I’m Luis Piñero Álvarez. Born in Madrid in 1994, I grew up wanting to explore the world. Photography gave me a way to do that and became my profession: getting to know places and people, and using a camera to tell the stories I found along the way.

I’ve travelled to more than 50 countries and filmed over 60 documentaries. Alongside this work, I shoot campaigns and productions for brands, drawing on the experience of filming in demanding terrain, adapting to its challenges and finding solutions on the ground.

In a world saturated with images, where reality is increasingly hard to separate from fabrication, I want to document what happens and give context to what we see.

Beyond the camera

Tierra Ignota

Since 2024, I’ve run Tierra Ignota, my own travel agency, alongside Amarna Miller. We organise immersive expeditions to remote destinations such as Afghanistan and Siberia, in small groups and with local partners. It extends what drives me as a documentary filmmaker: sharing first-hand what has fascinated me on my travels around the world, and exploring less-visited places and getting to know the people who live there with curiosity and respect.

    Photography, filming and editing for documentaries, journeys and expeditions.

    We define the story, access and local conditions. I can join a production or follow it from the shoot through to the edit. The proposal sets out the crew, travel and working days.

    Portraits and branded content for campaigns, launches and communications.

    We start with your brief or develop the visual approach together. We prepare references and locations; I then select and edit the material for the agreed formats and uses.

    Photography and video for concerts, launches and gatherings.

    We agree on access and key moments. I cover the stage, audience and atmosphere, then prepare a press gallery, a highlights film or pieces for your channels.

    Photography and video selected and edited during the event, so your team can publish while it is happening.

    Before the event, we agree on formats, delivery times and who receives the material. During the day, I send edited pieces for your communications team to review and publish.
